Voters selected Paul Zeller as the Republican nominee for St. Clair County Board of Commissioners District 5 during the Tuesday, Aug. 4 primary election.
Unofficial results showed Zeller received 2,000 votes (60.44%), while Kelly Tucker received 1,291 votes (39.01%).
District 5 includes the city of St. Clair, the townships of East China and St. Clair, and portions of Kimball Township (Precincts 2, 3 and 4).
“I am excited about the win. It is both encouraging and motivating,” Zeller said. “A huge thank you to all the people that have been helping. I appreciate the support.”
Zeller was appointed to the District 5 seat by the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners in September 2025 after Commissioner Robert Fielitz resigned the previous month. Tuesday’s Republican primary was for the partial term ending Dec. 31, 2028. Zeller will face Democrat Dorothy Yope in the Nov. 3 general election, where voters will decide who serves the remainder of the term.
“I will continue to listen, learn, and make decisions for the benefit of the community,” Zeller said. “Onward to November!”
