Celebrate the solstice, summer skies and sales this weekend in Northern Michigan.
Here’s what we recommend:
Enjoy the Northern Michigan Country Rock Festival
Castle Farms in Charlevoix will be home to the first ever Northern Michigan Country Rock Festival on Friday, June 19.
The full day of fun includes a food truck and vendor market from 12-6 p.m. The pre-party at the Castle Pub is from 3-5 p.m. The music gets started at 6 p.m. with McKayla Prew, followed by Rebekah Jon at 6:45 p.m. and Louie Lee at 7:30 p.m. Headliner Kenny Olson Cartel takes the stage at 8:30 p.m.
General admission tickets are $40 for adults and $15 for youth ages 5-17.

Soar with the Young Eagles
The Soo Pilots Association EAA Chapter 1437 will host a Young Eagles Rally from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sanderson Municipal Airport in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, June 20.
The event offers free introductory airplane rides for children ages 8–17. A parent or legal guardian must be present. If needed, there is a rain date of Sunday, June 21.
Pre-registration is available at eaachapters.org.
Shop the Alanson Flea Market
Search for steals and treasures at the Alanson Flea Market on Saturday, June 20.
The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Alanson Village Park, weather permitting. Admission is free.
The flea market takes place on the third Saturday of June, July, August and September, so there will be more chances to look for antiques, crafts and more this summer.

Explore a busy Cheboygan on Saturday
Cheboygan will be busy on Saturday, June 20 with both the Cheboygan Junior Chiefs Classic Car Show and the first ever Cheboygan Pirate Invasion.
The car show takes place at City Beach/Gordon Turner Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Pirate Invasions will have activities all weekend long, but some Saturday highlights include sword fighting and sandcastles in Washington Park, a treasure hunt on the Children’s Trail, and music and performers at Festival Square.
Visit the Cheboygan Pirate Invasion Facebook page for the full schedule of events.
Greet the solstice
The Little Traverse Conservancy will welcome the dawn of the longest day of the year on Sunday, June 21 with a Summer Solstice Silent Sunrise.
The event takes place from 5-6 a.m. at the Jack Mertaugh Nature Preserve. The group will walk to the beach and then join a sharing circle after the sun rises with coffee, pastries and conversation.
