Do you like the outdoors, native plants, and wildlife? Do you have a passion for habitat restoration? Do you enjoy sharing what you learn with others? Registration is now open for Michigan State University Extension’s Conservation Stewards Program (CSP) in St. Clair County.
Learn about local conservation heritage, Michigan’s natural communities, local wildlife, community science projects, and more. This 10-week program from MSU Extension is hosted by St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission with the help of many partner organizations. The course is a hybrid virtual/in-person program for learning and applying science-based ecosystem management. Learn more and register at canr.msu.edu/csp. Registration closes when the class is full or August 30, and classes begin the week of September 11.
Each week of instruction, the hybrid program will combine virtual, self-paced lessons with in-person evening sessions at various locations within St. Clair County. Weekly evening sessions will be held on Wednesdays, from September 13 to November 15, 2023. Weekly evening sessions will not be held on November 1 and November 8.
Additionally, two Saturday in-person field trips within St. Clair County will be held on September 23 and October 7. Participants will also complete applied capstone projects related to restoring and conserving Michigan’s ecosystems, with guidance provided by a local mentor.
The last date to register will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, with partial scholarship opportunities available. For additional details of the 2023 Conservation Stewards Program and to register, please visit canr.msu.edu/csp.
