RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Discoveries made by Brazilian state-run oil firm Petrobras discoveries this year in the Campos and Santos basins and in the Buzios field are “significant,” exploration and production head Sylvia dos Anjos said on Wednesday.

Petrobras announced hydrocarbon discoveries in February and March at the Aram block, located in the Santos basin, and at the Norte de Brava block in Campos basin, as well as in a well located in the western region of the Buzios field.

“They are great,” said Anjos, adding she could not discuss volumes because Petrobras was still running final tests, but stressing that the new discoveries could push the firm’s planned peak production forward by a year.

The firm’s management is also set to discuss this week a proposal for a tender to charter a new production vessel for the Buzios field, Anjos said, speaking on the sidelines of an event in Rio de Janeiro.

The tender, which would follow the build-operate-transfer model, could be made public in the first half of 2025 if approved by the firm’s management.
