Chloe Cramblitt reached a milestone Aug. 22 for the Lakewood volleyball team.
Cramblit, a senior playing libero for just her second season, recorded 17 digs, surpassing 500 for her career. She helped the Lancers pick up a victory against visiting Danville, 25-17, 28-26, 25-19.
Elise Rayburn distributed 22 assists for the Lancers (1-1). Hannah Molter added seven kills and Quinn Palmer four aces.
Johnstown takes second
Johnstown took runner-up during the Westerville South Invitational. The Johnnies (3-1) beat Newark, 20-25, 25-16, 25-21, and Westerville North, 25-14, 25-11, before falling to the host Wildcats, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18.
Adyson Kelly racked up 18 kills, 22 assists, five aces and four blocks on the day to lead the Johnnies. Caylin Cox added 37 kills, Sophia Cooke 10 kills and three aces, Addy Hazelbaker 46 assists and Shelby Bias eight aces.
Newark finished 1-2 on the day, beating Whitehall, 25-8, 25-7, and falling to Buckeye Valley, 15-25, 25-11, 25-23.
Arden Thompson distributed a total of 55 assists for the Wildcats (1-3). Melissa Chance added a total of 20 kills and 12 aces, Addy Dowell 12 kills, Brooke Spangler 10 digs and Kate Misel five kills and three blocks against Johnstown and Jazmyn Brown six kills and three blocks against Buckeye Valley.
Valley splits
Licking Valley picked up a win against Fredericktown, 25-12, 25-14, and fell to host Maysville, 25-21, 14-25, 25-22.
Kora Rhodes totaled 31 assists on the day and added three aces against the Freddies. Callie Dodson added eight kills against the Panthers, Alli Bebout four aces in each match and Emily Conaway three aces and Kynsley Bush nine digs against the Freddies.
Heath falls on road
Marley Morris recorded 10 kills and three blocks for Heath in a season-opening loss, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17, at Bloom-Carroll, the reigning Division III state runner-up.
Emma Moore distributed 13 assists for the Bulldogs. Ella Jewell added seven kills, Mila Morris two aces and eight assists and Adrianne Pethtel and Anna Mathias eight digs apiece.
Utica drops road march
Macie Ellis notched 10 kills and four aces for Utica in a season-opening loss at Madison-Plains, 25-22, 25-13, 22-25, 25-22.
Emily Ritzer added nine kills, Penelope Karas seven kills and three aces, Chloe Wilson 18 assists and Baileigh Yates 21 digs for Utica.
GCA wins opener
Granville Christian rallied after a slow start, beating Harvest Prep, 24-26, 25-13, 25-19, 25-15 in its season opener.

Johnstown beats Newark
Cassidy Muller scored twice, fueling Johnstown in a 3-1 victory against visiting Newark (0-1).
Josie Vida added a goal for the Johnnies (2-0).
Northridge rallies on road
Northridge caught fire in the second half, using a four-goal onslaught to sprint past host North Union for a 5-2 victory.
Tori Neville led the Vikings (2-0) with two goals, and Summer Strout, Elina Wiik and Emmy Zanks also scored. Sylver Strout added two assists and Wiik and Cora Hill one apiece, and Ella Neville made eight saves.

Watkins ties
Watkins Memorial jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead before settling for a 3-3 tie with visiting Dublin Scioto.
Tyler Troche, Noah McConnaughy and Manoj Karki scored for the Warriors (0-1-1). Nathan Orr, Yogi Subedi and Ermia Ahmadi recorded an assist each.

Newark sweeps
Amora Spring and Isabelle Tracy picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-2, completing Newark’s 5-0 win against Wilmington at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
Piper Franklin and Gianna Buchdrucker added a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-1. Singles winners for the Wildcats (4-0) were Bella Sherman, 6-0, 6-0, Analeigh Roy, 6-1, 6-0, and Kayla Blackstone, 6-0, 6-1.
Watkins nips Delaware
Gabriella Smith and Samantha Madison earned a victory at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-3, lifting Watkins Memorial to a 3-2 victory against Delaware.
Nora Grennan, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 and Eva Barbour, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 added singles wins for the Warriors (2-1).

Granville takes runner-up
Carmella Aulet fired a 78 to place third at Mill Creek, leading Granville to a second-place team finish during the Worthington Christian Invitational.
Ella Clarke added an 80, placing fifth, Aubrey Lewis an 88, placing 14th for the Blue Aces, who totaled 351.
Watkins Memorial’s Ella Yost shot 86 to tie for 10th. Emma Booher added 93, tying for 16th and Hailey Smith 94, tying for 18th for the Warriors.
BOYS GOLF
Heckman leads Granville
Will Heckman fired a 74 and tied for 24th at Chapel Hill to lead Granville during the DeSales Invitational.
Hudson Hall followed with a 76 in 33rd, Todd Dao and A.J. Stump with 77 apiece, tying for 39th and Stevie Joseph 78, tying for 48th for the Blue Aces.
