As the New York Giants inch closer to their first training camp under new head coach John Harbaugh in two weeks, the question many are asking is, “What is the vibe?”
In a recent piece describing the pre-camp vibe of every NFL team in one word, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon had this to say.
New York Giants: Regenerated
New venerable coach, intriguing young weapons at the offensive skill positions gearing up for breakout seasons, and a defense that has been rebuilt. This franchise should feel rejuvenated.
Harbaugh has already changed the tone and outlook in the building. Everyone is buying in. He brings both a newfound energy and an old-school work ethic to a Giants franchise that had lost its way since winning Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012.
The roster is chock-filled with talent, both old and new, and has the right man to mold it into a contending team. The Giants have four first-round picks over the past two drafts (Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart, Arvell Reese, and Francis Mauigoa) that they believe will become the core of their team going forward.
Then there are players who have captured the imagination of fans, such as Brian Burns, Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers, who will mix with such newcomers as Isaiah Likely, Malachi Fields, Colton Hood and Patrick Ricard.
This is definitely not anything like the Giants teams of the past few years. This team is motivated and will compete every week.
