Jamarin Simmons continues to put himself in the conversation among the nation’s best football prospects.
The Godby wide receiver is one of the top players in the country, ranked the 26th best player and a 5-star by 247Sports, and he’s added another landmark achievement to his already lengthy resume.
Simmons has signed an NIL deal with Nike, joining the iconic company’s football roster that features the likes of Cincinnati Bengals WR Jamar Chase, Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley, Oregon QB Dante Moore and some of the top prospects in the Class of 2027.
Nike announced the signing of Simmons, who was one of 11 prep prospects to ink deals to represent the iconic swoosh. The deal came after Simmons’s performance at The Opening, a prep event that partners with Nike to provide the nation’s best prospects a chance to compete against each other.
“Nike signed the high school athletes following their leading performances at The Opening Finals, the best platform for prep standouts to compete against top talent from across the country…In signing with Nike, the incoming NIL athletes also became part of the strongest football roster in the game, which includes six active Super Bowl champions, 19 All-Pros and 28 Pro Bowl players, as well as legends such as Jerry Rice and Barry Sanders, who attended The Opening to give the athletes advice from their Hall of Fame careers,” A portion of Nike’s press release read.
Simmons, who is committed to Clemson, has taken the Big Bend by storm, consistently dominating for Godby since his freshman year. In his three seasons, he’s recorded 2,037 yards and 25 touchdowns with 116 receptions, and as a junior, he recorded 932 yards and 14 touchdowns.
As part of his deal with Nike, Simmons will “receive personalized support on and off the field, giving them tools for long-term success across sport, business and culture,” according to the press release.
Simmons will open his senior season with Godby against Florida High in the Kickoff Classic game before a week one clash against Rickards.
