Florida State’s season opener is drawing plenty of national attention before a snap has even been played.
ESPN announced Tuesday that ACC Huddle, the ACC Network’s traveling pregame show, will broadcast live from Tallahassee for the Seminoles’ Labor Day showdown against the SMU Mustangs in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season. Florida State and SMU are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, with the game serving as one of the marquee matchups during the opening week of the college football calendar.
The visit is part of ACC Network’s newly released ACC Huddle travel schedule for Weeks 0 through 3. After opening the season at Georgia Tech for the Week 0 meeting between the Yellow Jackets and Colorado, the network will head to Tallahassee before making stops at Clemson in Week 2 and Louisville in Week 3.
Hosted by Wes Durham alongside analysts Eric Mac Lain, EJ Manuel and Eddie Royal, ACC Huddle has become the network’s flagship football studio show, providing on-site coverage, interviews and analysis from some of the conference’s biggest games throughout the season. The Week 1 edition will spotlight one of the ACC’s most anticipated early conference matchups as Florida State opens league play against an SMU program coming off its second season in the conference.
The primetime contest also marks a significant opportunity for Mike Norvell’s Seminoles as they look to bounce back from consecutive losing seasons. With a national television audience on ESPN and ACC Network broadcasting live from campus throughout the day, Doak Campbell Stadium will once again serve as one of the focal points of the opening weekend of college football.
In addition to unveiling its early-season travel schedule, ESPN also announced that former Pittsburgh quarterback Max Browne is joining ACC Network’s football coverage this season. Browne will work alongside play-by-play announcer Roy Philpott and analyst Roddy Jones on ACC Network’s Saturday primetime game broadcasts.
