When many other local students are still stuck in summer, Tuloso-Midway students are back in the classroom.
The Tuloso-Midway Independent School District began the 2026-27 school year on July 15.
At Tuloso-Midway Primary School, Principal David Crabtree described the first day of school as “exciting times.” Families lined up before doors opened.
Crabtree said that the campus is experiencing growth.
Superintendent Steve VanMatre said in an email that preliminary enrollment numbers are up across the district.
Tuloso-Midway ISD is still completing work on a new natatorium and career and technical education center.
The district will hold a ribbon-cutting for the natatorium on July 22. The career and technical education center is set to open the week of Oct. 26.
Additionally, the district plans to build a new junior high school. The groundbreaking for this project is scheduled for Aug. 13.
