Sheetz set to launch new location in Oakland County

Sheetz is putting out the welcome mat at its second Oakland County location as the Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain continues its expansion across Michigan.

The grand opening takes place from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the new store, 4060 S. Lapeer Road.

The new location is a 6,139-square-foot convenience store with a drive-through restaurant on a 1.97-acre site at the southwest corner of Lapeer and Silverbell roads, according to township planning documents.

The development also includes a fuel canopy with eight pumps and 16 fueling positions.

Known for its 24-hour stores, made-to-order food and fuel service, Sheetz operates more than 800 locations across seven states, including Michigan.

In February, the company announced the Orion Township location as part of its half-billion-dollar investment to open 14 new locations in 2026.

“The grand opening celebrates Sheetz’s continued investment in Michigan through job creation, economic development, and strong community partnerships,” the company said in a statement, noting the new store is part of Sheetz’s plan to ultimately open 50 to 60 locations across southeast Michigan.

“This is an incredibly exciting year for Sheetz in Michigan,” said Nick Ruffner, public affairs manager. “We can’t wait to become part of these communities, and we look forward to serving the specific needs of our neighbors in each of these areas.”

The July 14 event will include remarks from company officials and local leaders, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:45 a.m., and several gift card giveaways, the company said.

The company will also donate $2,500 each to Forgotten Harvest and Special Olympics Michigan.
