These second-year studs have established themselves as some of the best baseball players in Central Indiana.
Here is the IndyStar All-Sophomore baseball team.
First Team
Drew Dalton, Decatur Central
Dalton batted .424 with 21 runs scored, 27 RBIs, eight doubles, three triples, two home runs and 10 stolen bases. On the mound, Dalton pitched to a 2.55 ERA, striking out 37 over 33 innings.
Luke Hensley, Tri-West
Hensley went 5-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 73 strikeouts over 38⅓ innings. The left-handed hitter batted .371 with 21 RBIs, seven doubles, two home runs and one triple.
Slade Hodges, Noblesville
Hodges batted .366 with 20 runs scored, 21 RBIs, four doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases. Hodges did not commit an error in 29 games.
Canyon Koonce, Brownsburg
Koonce batted .367 with 20 runs scored, 10 RBIs, seven doubles and 11 stolen bases. The left-handed hitter walked eight times and struck out just seven times in 24 games.
Brody McGaha, Mooresville
McGaha batted .406 with 29 runs scored, 15 RBIs, seven doubles, two home runs and 19 stolen bases. McGaha walked 13 times and struck out just six time in 21 games. The shortstop finished with .947 fielding percentage.
Gavin McGee, Roncalli
McGee went 3-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 30⅓ innings.
Bishop Moore, Beech Grove
Moore batted .366 with 20 runs scored, 18 RBIs, three doubles, two triples, one home run and 13 stolen bases. Moore added 35 strikeouts over 18 innings on the mound.
Drew Morgan, Mt. Vernon
Morgan went 4-3 with a 0.78 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 44⅔ innings. At the plate, Morgan batted .290 with 25 runs scored, 15 RBIs, seven doubles, two triples, one home run and five stolen bases.
Andrew Noble, Westfield
Noble batted .410 with 31 runs scored, 20 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and eight stolen bases. He walked 21 times and struck out 17 in 28 games. The center fielder committed just one error (.979 field percentage).
Jakoby Nunley, Lapel
Nunley batted .422 with 35 runs scored, 19 RBIs, two doubles, one triple and 28 stolen bases. On the mound, Nunley went 4-1 with a 1.83 ERA, striking out 19 in 23 innings.
Hayden Zellers, Greenfield-Central
Zellers batted .325 with 24 runs scored, 25 RBIs, four doubles, five home runs, four triples and 10 stolen bases.
Second Team
Lane Armstrong, Franklin Central
Armstrong batted .329 with 25 runs scored, 16 RBIs, two doubles, two triple, three home runs and four stolen bases. Armstrong committed just two errors (.955 fielding percentage) in 28 games.
Brayden Cravens, Cascade
Cravens batted .377 with 12 runs scored, 21 RBIs, nine doubles, three triples and one stolen base. On the mound, Cravens went 4-0 with a 1.79 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 39 innings.
Rhett Hostetler, Noblesville
Hostetler did not allow an earned run (0.00 ERA) in 16 innings, striking out 29 and walking just nine.
Landon Hurley, Greenwood Christian
Hurley batted .388 with 38 runs scored, 14 RBIs, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 11 stolen bases.
Ryan Lackman, Tri-West
Lackman batted .352 with 19 runs scored, nine RBIs, seven doubles, three home runs and 13 stolen bases.
Easton Nance, Western Boone
Nance batted .408 with 19 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and two stolen bases.
Beau Sawyer, Western Boone
Sawyer batted .323 with 14 runs scored, 14 RBIs, four doubles, one triple and seven stolen bases. On the mound, Sawyer went 2-0 with 1.65 with 10 strikeouts over 17 innings.
Colton Shipp, Whiteland
Shipp batted .281 with 16 runs scored, 22 RBIs, four doubles, four home runs and eight stolen bases. Shipp made just one error (.976 fielding percentage) in 24 games, and he added 26 strikeouts over 20⅓ innings on the mound.
Finn Steiner, University
Steiner went 3-2 with a 1.11 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 25⅓ innings. At the plate, Steiner batted .287 with four home runs, four doubles, one triple and one stolen base.
Braylon Storey, Center Grove
Storey batted .231 with nine runs scored, nine RBIs, three and three home runs. Storey added four strikeouts in 5⅓ innings on the mound.
Grayson Taylor, Indian Creek
Taylor batted .380 with 25 runs scored, 22 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and 15 stolen bases.
T.J. Turner, Cascade
Turner batted .378 with 17 runs scored, 23 RBIs, seven doubles, five home runs and four stolen bases. On the mound, Turner with 4-3 with a 3.60 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 44⅔ innings.
Ty White, Plainfield
White batted .386 with 34 runs scored, 24 RBIs, eight doubles, four home runs and 27 stolen bases. White walked 14 times and struck out just seven times in 24 games.
Kolt Wilson, Eastern Hancock
Wilson batted .319 with 21 runs scored, 16 RBIs, four doubles and 10 stolen bases.
Mason Woodke, Indian Creek
Woodke batted .387 with 24 runs scored, 14 RBIs, five triples, three doubles and 13 stolen bases. Woodke committed just one error (.957 field percentage) in 23 games.
Third Team
Deano Bayer, Scecina
Bayer went 4-5 with a 5.35 ERA and 57 strikeouts over 51 innings.
Luke Benefiel, Fishers
The lefty pitched to a 3.50 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 22 innings.
Ty Bergman, Triton Central
Bergman batted .333 with 15 runs scored, nine RBIs, eight doubles and five stolen bases.
Charlie Johnson, Cathedral
Johnson went 3-1 with a 4.38 ERA and 49 strikeouts over 38⅓ innings.
Ty Jones, Lapel
Jones batted .304 with 19 runs scored, two doubles, one triple and four stolen bases.
Dylan Kauble, Greenwood
Kauble batted .303 with 18 runs scored, 13 RBIs, three doubles, one triple and five stolen bases.
Jack Kluemper, Monrovia
Kluemper batted .302 with 11 runs scored, five RBIs, three doubles, one home run and eight stolen bases.
Jordan Winkler, Purdue Poly
Winkler batted .354 with 15 runs scored, 19 RBIs, three doubles, two triples, three home runs and 11 stolen bases.
