The Milwaukee Brewers were unable to take advantage of scoring opportunities while losing two of three games to the Chicago Cubs.
It’s become a little bit of a trend. Despite being second in the Major Leagues with a plus-120 run differential, Milwaukee has been crossing home plate much less recently.
The Brewers have averaged four runs a game over their last 12 and, in two of those games, scored a total of 18 runs. They scored an average of three runs in the other 10 games.
The team’s superior overall run margin suggests the offense will awaken soon, but it should also be noted that it averaged just 3.33 runs a game in a series it swept against the Cincinnati Reds last week.

The same two teams meet for a four-game series at American Family Field this week. And while the Brewers aren’t scoring at an above-average clip lately, their pitching continues to be mostly good. Milwaukee held the Reds to six runs over three games last week without Jacob Misiorowski or Kyle Harrison pitching.
However, the Reds will see Misiorowski in the series finale July 2 in a matchup that features two of the hardest-throwing starters in baseball, Misiorowski and Chase Burns. The two have totaled 258 strikeouts this season.
