The New York Giants brought back veteran Odell Beckham Jr. this year, a move that they hope will add depth and guidance to their wide receiver room.
The worst-case scenario is that the 33-year-old displays that he no longer has the skill and panache that made him a star when the Giants drafted him in 2014. The best-case scenario is that he makes the team and can supplement the team’s young receiving corps with some vintage plays and by imparting some of his veteran knowledge.
One former Giant, two-time Super Bowl champion kicker Lawrence Tynes, believes OBJ can deliver much more than expected this year if he’s provided the opportunity. He’s looked that good in workouts.
The fact is that time may have caught up to Beckham. Since 2021, he’s played in 37 games and has just eight touchdown catches. He did not play in 2025 or in 2022 due to various injuries and issues.
Beckham is a holder of 18 NFL records and 16 Giants franchise records. He has 44 touchdowns as a Giant, fourth in team history behind Amani Toomer (54), Kyle Rote (48), and Joe Morrison (47). He can climb that list with a solid season.
With six receptions this season. OBJ can also pass Morrison for third on the club’s all-time list for receptions. He has 390, and Morrison has 395.
