Country music star Vince Gill played the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, June 27, rocking a nearly sold-out crowd with little fanfare other than his melodic voice, humble demeanor and multi-talented band.
Known for his song writing and talent on the guitar, mandolin, banjo and Dobro, Gill achieved commercial fame in 1990 with “When I Call Your Name,” which won the Country Music Association’s Single and Song of the Year awards as well as a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male.
Gill has scored 65 entries on the Billboard country music charts, including four solo number one hits: “I Still Believe in You,” “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away,” “One More Last Chance” and “Tryin’ to Get Over You.”
Albums released in the 1990s were certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America, with “I Still Believe in You (1992)” ranking the highest, at quintuple-platinum.
The superstar, who is married to contemporary Christian rock singer Amy Grant, has won 18 CMA Awards, 22 Grammy Awards, and eight Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2025, he received CMA’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gill is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame and in 2012, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Other accolades include the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the BMI Icon award.
During his career, Gill has released 21 albums, sold more than 30 million and charted 45 singles. In 2022, Gill was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame.
