With rotational snaps at defensive end up for grabs, one Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end seems to have stood out from the rest during offseason programs.
We know at this position that Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker will lead the way, but defensive end is often heavily rotated, with four or sometimes even five players seeing snaps on a weekly basis.
So when it comes to playing time behind those two, there is still a lot that has not yet been determined. Competing for these snaps are Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, BJ Green, and Zach Durfee.
That said, John Shipley of Jaguars on SI provided us with some insight on where things may stand heading into training camp. Shipley recently highlighted four position battles to watch, and at defensive end, he specifically mentioned Striggow potentially having the early edge, while also making sure to note that the Jaguars’ coaching staff will continue to lean heavily into embracing competition.
“I will add the caveat that I think second-year defensive end Danny Striggow has the inside track to the No. 3 defensive end spot behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker,” Shipley wrote. “With that said, this is a Jaguars regime that places an actual emphasis on competition instead of just using talking points about it, and someone will have to earn the spot on the practice field once the pads come on.”
Striggow made the 53-man roster last year as a UDFA. Initially, the bulk of his playing time came on special teams, but as the season progressed, he saw more opportunities on defense.
He finished the season playing 152 defensive snaps, logging seven quarterback pressures, one sack, and 11 total tackles, according to PFF.
As good as the Jaguars’ defense was last season, one area of improvement is in their ability to get after the quarterback consistently. Last season, the Jaguars ranked a modest 18th in pressure rate in 2025 and 27th in sacks.
Having Walker healthy for the full season, along with more consistency from the pass rush rotation behind Hines-Allen and Walker, should give the Jaguars the production boost they’re searching for.
