CHILLICOTHE ― In Ohio, grabbing a bottle of your favorite liquor might not be as simple as walking into your local store at any time.
So, whether you are having a party, celebrating at home or running a bar, it’s important to know what the laws are in order to be able to follow them.
How strict are the laws in Ohio?
In general, laws in the United States are strict on who can and cannot consume alcohol. And it’s no different in the state of Ohio.
According to the Ohio Laws and Administrative Rules, Section 4301.22, those 21 and under are unable to buy an alcoholic beverage and no low-alcohol beverage should be sold to any person under 18 years of age.
What times can you buy beer in Ohio?
In Ohio, it depends on the permit the store, restaurant or bar has, depends on when they are able to serve and sell beers, wine and spirituous liquor.
Most permits will stop sales Monday through Saturday between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. and Sunday between the hours of 1 a.m. and midnight.
When are liquor stores open in Ohio?
Though retail stores, like grocery stores and convenience stores, are typically unable to sell liquor. Liquor stores are allowed on certain days and times.
Those with a liquor permit are allowed to sell alcohol Monday through Saturday, depending on their class of permit. The hours of sale for liquor are Monday through Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to either 1 a.m. or 2:30 a.m. the next day, depending on the permit.
