ALLIANCE − A body was recovered from Deer Creek Reservoir on June 27 inside a white truck belonging to 20-year-old Nathaniel Hang, who has been missing since June 3, authorities said.
The body has been turned over to the Stark County Coroner’s Office for an examination, Alliance police Capt. James Hilles said in a statement.
A coroner’s investigator said the body will be examined June 29, and a doctor will determine then whether to send the body to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office in Cleveland.
Hilles wrote that the searchers found the vehicle submerged in the reservoir about 100 yards offshore near Price Street NE around 11:30 a.m. The vehicle was towed out and the clothed body was found inside.
The Facebook page for Exploring with the Nug said it and Adam Brown Adventures found Hang’s vehicle in the reservoir. The person behind Exploring with the Nug posted pictures showing a white truck covered with dirt being pulled out of the reservoir.
Hang, a West Branch High School graduate, went missing after he drove from his mother’s Alliance home in his white 2010 GMC Canyon pickup. Emergency responders and volunteers have spent weeks searching for him. At one point, they searched a pond in Lexington Township using sonar equipment on June 9.
