Michigan State hockey defenseman commit drafted in fourth round

Michigan State hockey had it’s seventh selection in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft come off the board in the fourth round when the Florida Panthers selected Jonas Kemps with the No. 98 pick in the draft.

Kemps is a massive 6-foot-6 left shot defenseman that is expected to be on Michigan State’s campus for the 2027-28 season as a 2008 born player. A native of Sebastopol, California, Kemps played this past season for the Chicago Steel of the USHL, but will be joining the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL for this upcoming year.
