The guard made his mark in his one season with the Red Raiders, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and All-Big 12 Newcomer Team honors after averaging 13.5 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. His 130 3-pointers set a new program record, and his 81 3-pointers in conference play are the most in Big 12 history.

He was the only Red Raider to start all 34 games and shot 46.3% from the floor and 45.8% from deep. He scored 20 or more points in five games, including a season-high 26 against Kansas State. He finished in double figures in 25 of their 34 games and ended the season on a strong note.

Atwell averaged 13.5 points in their two NCAA Tournament games, going 6-11 from 3-point range. An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal for undrafted rookies and includes an invitation to Summer League and training camp.
