Gov. Greg Abbott and challenger Gina Hinojosa are using a new website and a new ad in their campaigns for Texas governor.
Abbott is again stepping up his attack against state Democrats with the launch of RadicalTexas.com.
He claims the new website exposes the radical agenda for Texas by Democrats and “will serve as a one-stop resource illustrating the major disconnect between Democratic policies and everyday Texans,” he said in the announcement on Thursday, June 25.
He also noted more “surprises” were on their way from the Abbott campaign as he pulls out all the stops in a race that has become uncomfortably close in polls for the highest office in Texas.
“No amount of rebranding can hide the fact that Democrats have embraced a radical, socialist agenda that is dangerous for Texas,” said Texans for Greg Abbott Campaign Manager Kim Snyder. “They’re hoping voters forget that they’ve championed the defund the police movement, open borders, and anti-energy policies that will destroy Texas’ oil and gas industry.”
Throughout his reelection bid, Abbott has been clear that he considers Democratic polices dangerous for the state with vows to keep Texas a place for “law and order.”
Gina Hinojosa says American dream on ‘life support’ under Abbott
Democratic candidate for Texas governor Gina Hinojosa, is stepping up her attacks on Abbott’s tenure in office in a new commercial unveiled in a social media post.
The ad features Hinojosa reading to young students in a spoof of a well-known children’s book and telling them the story of the “very hungry billionaire” taking utility resources and education dollars from Texans thanks to Abbott.
“Texas public schools and the American Dream are on life support because Greg Abbott is selling us out to his Very Hungry Billionaires,” she said in the post. “To win this race, we have to get this message into every corner of Texas. That’s why I wanted to show you this ad we just made. The movement we’re building is powered by working Texans — exactly who I’m running to represent.”
The ad illustrates how the wealthy donors to Abbott’s campaign are literally taking a bite out of healthcare funding, rising utility rates, public school budgets and proposed data centers in the state.
