The voters have spoken: Bella is the top dog in Indiana.
Fans selected their favorites in the Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards, a USA TODAY Pets contest to benefit the Best Friends Animal Society, selecting a winner from each state, along with runners-up. Cats and dogs were eligible.
They’re among 50,000 entries from around the nation.
Bella, Indiana’s winner from Redkey
Bella, Indiana’s winner, will receive a $3,500 cash prize, plus tickets to an August awards ceremony.
Second place winner, Apollo from Avilla
Apollo from Avilla won second place and will receive an $1,000 cash prize.
Third place winner, Molly from Connersville
Molly, the shih-tzu pit mix from Connersville, won third place in Indiana and will receive a $500 prize.
Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards Best in Nation
Voting for the best pet in the nation will take place July 7-15. An awards show is scheduled for Aug. 9.
