'Motor City,' Detroit-set action thriller, debuts new trailer online

Revenge speaks louder than words.

That’s the language used in the new trailer for “Motor City,” the largely wordless Detroit-set action thriller that rolls into theaters July 24.

The new trailer, which debuted online on Thursday, sets the scene for the ’70s-set crime caper, which stars Alan Ritchson, Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber and Ben Foster. Watch it here:

In the movie, Alan Ritchson (“Reacher”) stars as John Miller, a man seeking revenge after he’s released from prison. The movie features only a few words of dialogue, and otherwise lets the action do the talking.

The trailer features Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day” and transitions into Jack White’s “Archbishop Harold Holmes.” White provides the film’s score, and the soundtrack also features songs by David Bowie, Donna Summer, Fleetwood Mac, the Moody Blues and more.

“Motor City” is directed by Potsy Ponciroli (“Greedy People”) and debuted in 2025 at the Venice International Film Festival. It also played at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.

The movie was shot in 2024 in northern New Jersey, which stands in for Detroit.

The movie is rated R for strong bloody violence, some grisly images, drug content, sexuality/nudity and language, according to the Motion Picture Association.

An earlier trailer for the movie debuted online in May.
