A man died after a crash on Interstate 235 on Sunday left him in critical condition.
A 20-year-old man, whose name will be released by police following family notification, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on I-235 westbound near 42nd Street in Des Moines on Sunday, June 21, leaving him in critical condition, according to Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek.
A DMPD update Monday morning announced the man died from his injuries.
According to a preliminary investigation, witness statements and evidence at the scene, the man was driving a 2013 Honda Civic in the inside lane of I-235 when the car hydroplaned, crossing the westbound lanes and crashing into the 42nd Street bridge wall north of the roadway.
