PEORIA HEIGHTS − Cody Scogin wants guests to feel as though they’ve “got out of town and escaped to this very unique rooftop hang” when they visit The Fitz.
The rooftop spot – formerly home to The Twelve Bar – quietly opened Friday, June 12 with the aim of offering unique drinks, globally inspired plates and a fun, eclectic atmosphere.
“I think people really enjoy it,” Scogin said. “I think it’s a very unique space. I think it’s a unique concept. I think it feels fun and new and approachable – not intimidating. I think we have things for everyone.”
‘Vibrant and new and fun’
Situated up on the third floor, Scogin said the space did not need major renovations. Rather, he said, “it just needed some polish.”
Now, as customers walk in, they are greeted with dark walls and a deep green bar front contrasted by bold, pink lighting.
“It just feels vibrant and new and fun,” Scogin said, “definitely trying to create different levels of experiences.”
The outdoor patio aims to offer a somewhat tropical feel, Scogin said. Inside, large windows let in natural light during the day, while, in the evening, Scogin said the space seems more like “an ‘80s night club.”
“It’s got a bunch of different feelings and emotions,” he said.
Unlike other Ardor Hospitality concepts, which offer reservations, seating at The Fitz is first come, first served. Parties of 20 or more people are able to inquire about reservations.
To reach The Fitz, customers can enter through Sloane Supper & Social at the front of the building and take the stairs or wrap around to a back entrance facing the parking lot to take the elevator.
‘A pretty eclectic menu’
Much like the atmosphere, the rooftop space aims to offer a diverse drink selection with beers, wines and craft cocktails.
Customers can find a frozen espresso martini and frozen aperitivo spritz, each priced at $17. Drinks like sake and soju are also available, and The Fitz features three beers on tap and two bottled options.
The specialty cocktail selection includes creations such as:
A “Party Time Punch” – priced at $80 – is made to serve three to four people.
For food, Scogin said customers will find “a pretty eclectic menu” with globally inspired items. The menu features dishes such as:
Ultimately, Scogin said The Fitz aims to offer unique menu options and encouraged customers to come in with an open mind.
“Just give it a shot,” he said. “Come in and get lost. Enjoy it.”
