Search ongoing on Okauchee Lake for person who fell off boat

A search is ongoing Saturday, June 20 for a person who fell overboard off a boat on Okauchee Lake on Friday, June 19, according to the Western Lakes Fire Department.

The fire department posted on its Facebook page that the department and the Lac La Belle Police Department were dispatched to the lake at 10:40 p.m.

Rescue operations continued until 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 20 when the incident moved into a search and recovery for the missing person. The operation resumed in the morning.

The search also includes the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, drones and specialized sonar equipment, the fire department said.

“Please remain respectful and keep the loved ones of this individual in your prayers,” the fire department’s post said.

The Road T boat launch in Lac La Belle is closed and the Lac La Belle Police Department is investigating.
