When did Coleman Owen join the Colts?
Owen signed with the Colts as a UDFA following the 2025 NFL draft.
Recapping the 2025 season for Coleman Owen
Owen spent most of the 2025 season on the Colts’ practice squad, but he did get some in-game opportunities late in the season. Owen appeared in one game on offense, in Week 16 against San Francisco, where he played one snap, in which he had a target but no receptions.
In Weeks 15 and 16, Owen handled kick and punt return duties, averaging 28.2 yards per kick return on five attempts. He had one punt return attempt for two yards and two fair catches, according to PFF.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Coleman Owen
As primarily a slot receiver in his career, Owen has an uphill battle to make the roster with Josh Downs and recent draft pick Anthony Gould ahead of him.
That said, it’s not an impossible climb either. As we noted recently, I don’t view Gould as a roster lock by any means. Gould has hardly seen the field on offense in his first two seasons, but has handled return duties with moderate success.
For Owen to make the roster, he’ll have to outperform Gould in those two phases.
