Study: Cost of attending New York Giants games down 26% since 2016

The New York Giants haven’t been very good since 2016, logging just two winning seasons and two playoff appearances over this span with a record of 55-109-1, second-worst in the NFL behind only the Jets.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that fans haven’t had to deal with egregious price hikes at the stadium.

Based on a new study conducted by Max Barlow, the Giants’ beer/hot dog/ticket price has stayed relatively the same since 2016. In fact, with inflation factored in, it’s actually 26 percent lower than it was 10 years ago.

The report shows that the NFL gameday experience has risen 78 percent over the past decade, from $105.55 to $187.85. The Giants’ prices have risen just 31 cents since 2016, from $136.07 to $136.38.

Here is some integral data from the study:

While the average NFL ticket price has increased by 83 percent since 2016 ($92.98 to $169.88), the Giants’ average ticket price has decreased by six percent over the past decade.

New Orleans Saints landed bottom again for the increase in average ticket prices over the past decade (-14%), but they don’t have the cheapest of all teams, that goes to the Indianapolis Colts who have an average ticket price of $76.88, a 12% decrease of the last 10 years (35% below inflation). Other standout teams who saw a decrease in ticket prices or a very small increase were the New York Giants (-6%), Tennessee Titans (+5%), New York Jets (+6%) and the Los Angeles Chargers (+10%).

The study did not take parking into account. The current parking prices at MetLife Stadium for football and concerts range from $40 to $65. The price to park in 2016 was a standard $30 across the board.
