Florida State is looking to close on several targets in the 2027 recruiting cycle. One of the key prospects is four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole, who took an official visit to Tallahassee last weekend.
The Seminoles dazzled the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder, and they even got him to cancel his official visit with the Miami Hurricanes that was supposed to take place this weekend. Also, FSU got four predictions to land Poole over the last five days, which included one from Dawgs247 staff writer Benjamin Wolk.
That is an interesting prediction because the Georgia Bulldogs have now slid in at the last minute to try to snag Poole, who is from Macon, Georgia. In fact, he could take an official to Athens sometime soon. However, per Matt LaSerre of Warchant, Florida State remains confident that the Seminoles will win out in Poole’s recruitment.
Now, Poole is expected to take a trip to Athens, Ga., in the coming days. And sources have told Warchant that UGA is indeed going to make a push.
Is that a bad sign for the Seminoles? Will the Bulldogs automatically shake things up?
Well, maybe not. From what Warchant has learned, there is still confidence this will be a Florida State-Tennessee battle, and the Seminoles have some strong ties to Poole and his family.
The ties to Poole’s family come by way of his aunt, who starred as a basketball player at Florida State. Another key factor in FSU’s approach is safeties coach Evan Cooper. He’s been at the head of the Seminoles efforts to secure Poole, and their relationship goes back a few years.
Florida State has been on a roll in recruiting during the month of June with five commitments. A pledge from Poole would be a major boost to the class, with him being a top 75 prospect, and he would also be the top commitment for FSU if he does pledge.
This is a very important recruitment for the Seminoles to close, especially after losing four-star safety Mekhi Williams. It’s a good thing that they’re still confident, but they need to get across the finish line with this one.
Poole is the No. 73 overall recruit and the No. 4 safety in the nation per Rivals industry rankings. He’s also the No. 6 prospect in the state of Georgia.
