Want cheaper airport parking? CAK opens new economy parking lot

In response to continued passenger growth, the Akron-Canton Airport has opened an economy parking lot to accommodate increased parking demand.

The economy lot, at the corner of Lauby and Mt. Pleasant roads, opened June 17 and is available for $11 per day.

The airport recognized the need to expand parking capacity while providing an affordable and accessible option, airport officials stated in a media release.

Reopening for the first time since 2017, the economy lot adds 775 spaces to the airport’s parking inventory, according to airport officials.

“As we continue to welcome more travelers to CAK, we are pleased to offer another affordable and convenient parking option,” Ren Camacho, president and CEO of Akron-Canton Airport, said in a statement. “We are always looking for ways to enhance the guest experience while meeting growing demand. This new lot will be especially appealing to those who value our low fares and exceptional service.”

The lot, which had originally opened in 2012 with 750 spots, was closed due to decreased demand. The airport had built the lot to meet demand for inexpensive, long-term parking, which at that time cost $3 an hour, $7 daily, and $42 a week.

This year, between January and April, the Akron-Canton Airport has had 363,458 passengers, a 42.5% increase over last year, according to the airport’s website.

In addition, the airport will provide complimentary door-to-door shuttle service between the economy lot and the terminal.

CAK also has implemented a two-hour grace period in all ticketed parking lots. Vehicles parked for 120 minutes or less may exit at no charge.
