A daycare provider has been accused abusing five young children in her care in an in-home daycare in Gates over a half-year span, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
Alleged physical abuse of 5 kids
Casey Raetz is accused of physically abusing – and injuring – five children, all younger than seven at her unlicensed in-home day care in Gates between Aug. 29, 2025 and March 13, 2026, according to the DA’s Office.
Details on what injuries the children received were not released. The children involved included three babies (less than one year old), one 3-year-old and one 5-year-old, according to the DA’s Office. Gates police investigated the case.
What are the charges?
Raetz, 31, was charged with seven counts of second-degree assault and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, according to court documents. The 13-count indictment from a Monroe County Grand Jury was unsealed Wednesday, June 17 in state Supreme Court, charging Reatz.
Raetz pleaded not guilty at her arraignment and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $300,000 cash, $900,000 bond, or $2,000,000 partially secured bond, according to the DA’s Office.
What’s next
Raetz is scheduled to return to state Supreme Court on Aug. 18 for argument of motions before Justice Judith Sinclair.
