Recapping Brian Thomas Jr.’s 2025 season
After a record-breaking rookie year, Thomas notably took a step backwards in 2025. During his rookie season, he amassed almost 1,300 yards, but in 2025, he ended the regular season with only 707 receiving yards. Throughout the season, he struggled with dropped passes and caught just 55% of his targets.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Brian Thomas Jr.
Thomas’ regression led to widespread speculation that Jacksonville would trade him, but head coach Liam Coen has remained confident in Thomas’ abilities, and rebuilding the chemistry between Thomas and quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been a major priority.
So far, the faith placed in Thomas appears to be well-placed; he has performed well during minicamp and OTAs, and all signs point to improved play in 2026.
If that can happen, and Thomas can return to his previous form, that will do wonders for the Jaguars’ offense. Not only is he a big play threat, but his presence draws the attention of defenders, which helps create opportunities for others within the offense.
