St. Clair Shores police are asking the pubic for help to identify a driver who earlier this week struck two kids riding an electric bike.
Authorities said they were called at about 5:35 p.m. Monday in the area of Greater Mack Avenue and Recreation Street near Masonic Road for a report of a car crash that caused injuries.
Police arrived and found two juveniles who had been riding on an electric bicycle when they were struck by a vehicle, they said. One of the two suffered a minor injury, they said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the two were struck by what was described as a black Kia SUV. Officers said the vehicle struck the two and continued traveling east on Recreation Street.
Anyone with information about the suspect vehicle or driver should call the St. Clair Shores Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at (586) 445-5318.
The case follows other recent hit-and-run crashes in Michigan.
Last month, a 24-year-old man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead.
The same month, a 60-year-old Pontiac pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run on Featherstone Road at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in the city.
A 69-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Redford Township, also in May.
