The DeWitt girls soccer was a force in Greater Lansing this spring, putting together a strong season that featured CAAC Blue, CAAC Gold Cup and district championships.
The Panthers went 17-2 and finished unbeaten against area teams.
The strong spring has led to DeWitt having a large representation on the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association’s all-state team. The Panthers had four players named all-state in Division 2 led by sophomore midfielder Madison McCarthy earning second team honors. DeWitt also had junior defender Ava Hanus, sophomore forward Ella Rogers and sophomore forward Addy Bertam selected honorable mention all-state.
DeWitt was joined by East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Mason, Haslett, Williamston, Eaton Rapids, Olivet, Portland, Laingsburg, Ovid-Elsie, Bath and Lansing Christian in having players selected all-state.
Grand Ledge defender Hannah Hall and goalkeeper Lilli Nichols were honorable mention all-state in Division 1. East Lansing midfielder Eliana Rojas was the other all-state selection in Division 1 and was named honorable mention.
Mason, which reached a regional final, had four players honored in Division 2 led by midfielder Lexi Haynie being named third team all-state. Goalie Paige Foster, defender Brooklyn Lockwood and midfielder Brenna Budzynski were honorable mention all-state performers for Mason. Haslett’s Alex Sharrow was named honorable mention all-state in Division 2.
Eaton Rapids reached a Division 3 regional final and had a large group of all-state players led by Kennedie Crow earning second team accolades. Other players honored for the Greyhounds included honorable mention selections Delaney Collins, Addyson Schultz and Hannah Garity.
Williamston had forward Mady Kuehne named third team all-state in Division 3, while Kalli Stump and Elly Gorsline received honorable mention recognition. Olivet goalie Aly Priesman was third team all-state in Division 3, while teammate Victoria Murphy was an honorable mention selection. Portland forward Lauren Spitzley was honorable mention all-state in Division 3.
Ovid-Elsie made a run to a Division 4 regional final and had a large group of all-state performers led by forward McKenzie Keck being named to the first team. The other all-state selections for the Marauders included forward Madalynn Bushard on the second team and keeper Sarah Newman, defender Kendal Tokar and Dannika Campbell being honorable mention selections.
Laingsburg midfielder Payge Woodworth was the other first team all-state selection in Division 4. The Wolfpack also had Kiki Rusz named third team all-state and Paige Erickson and Hailey Jury named honorable mention all-state.
Bath’s all-state selections were led by Emily Schneider and Jaydin Barber earning second team accolades. Midfielders Alison Montri and Elektra Kotch were honorable mention all-state selections for Bath.
Lansing Christian defender Evah Foster was selected honorable mention all-state in Division 4.
