Cowboys tap former Chiefs, Bears free agent to join the fray in 2026

The Dallas Cowboys are in need for more bodies along the offensive line in 2026. In that vein, they have signed offensive lineman Chris Glaser to their roster after losing free-agent signing Matt Hennessy last week to a neck injury. Hennessy is expected to require surgery and that could have him out up to and through training camp at a minimum, creating a need for another body to be added to the depth chart.

Glaser, an undrafted free agent out of Virginia, was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He would also go on to play for New York and Chicago and has played in a combined eight games, five games with the Jets and most recently three with the Bears in 2024. His most extensive action came in 2023 when he logged 57 snaps in Week 11, six snaps in Week 14 and 20 snaps in Week 17.

He’s spent time playing at both guard and center, the latter being where Hennessy was projected to back up Cooper Beebe this season. The Cowboys want depth pieces on the offensive line capable of playing multiple positions, and Glaser fits the mold.

Glaser would be released by the Bears in 2025 and play nine games for the UFL’s Columbus Aviators, even catching a pass for 21 yards in a game.

The Cowboys have once again dipped their toes into the UFL player pool in hopes of finding another diamond in the rough. All-Pros Brandon Aubrey and Kavontae Turpin both spent time in the spring league before making their way to stardom in Dallas.
