Erick Dampier Jr. was named as a finalist for Team USA’s U17 National Team ahead of the upcoming 2026 U17 FIBA World Cup. Dampier Jr. plays his high school basketball in Mississippi and is a five-star center prospect in the recruiting class of 2028. For those that don’t know, Dampier Jr. is also the son of 16-year NBA veteran and seven-year Warrior Erick Dampier.
Dampier was a former No. 10 overall pick by the Indiana Pacers in the 1996 NBA Draft and was sent to Golden State in a deal that included NBA Hall of Famer Chris Mullin. Following the trade, Dampier was with the Warriors from 1997 to 2004. His best season came during the 2003-04 campaign, where he averaged a double-double with 12.3 points, 12 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.9 blocks. Dampier also led the league in offensive rebounds that season, averaging 4.6 per contest. Although he was never an All-Star, Dampier put together an impressive career, averaging 7.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in nearly 1,000 career contests.
