UCLA Bruin fans should be quite familiar with the basketball skill of the Betts family, with Sienna and Lauren Betts helping UCLA capture the program’s first-ever NCAA championship but now a third Betts is entering the college basketball scene.
Younger brother Dylan Betts stands at 7’3” and is currently 247 Sports’ No. 10 player in the Class of 2028. Betts currently attends the IMG Academy, where he’ll prepare for the next level, where he’ll be a highly-sought after recruit.
A trio of Big Ten schools, UCLA, Illinois and the USC Trojans threw their hat in the ring, giving Betts an offer but his older sister let everyone know what she thought about her younger brother joining the rival Trojans.
“No. Absolutely not.” Betts said on Twitter on Monday.
The USC-UCLA women’s basketball rivalry took a bit of a step back this season, with USC star JuJu Watkins missing the entire season with a torn ACL. Watkins’ injury made the two USC-UCLA meetings lopsided, Bruin wins. While JuJu will be back this season to give the UCLA defense fits, it won’t be against the same cast of characters matching up against her in blue and white.
If Lauren has influence over her little brother’s recruitment, then she ought to give him a nice nudge towards Westwood. Much like Sienna and Lauren’s careers at UCLA overlapped, Sienna and Dylan could potentially have the same fate for the 2028-2029 season.
The youngest Betts also has offers from Georgia Tech, Purdue and Washington but the young center would be a marque add for Mick Cronin’s early 2028 recruiting. UCLA has proven to be a great spot for 7’3″ centers to develop into NBA players, just ask Aday Mara.
