Who is on Fond du Lac County ballots in the 2026 midterm election?

FOND DU LAC – The 2026 midterm election is Nov. 3, with an Aug. 11 primary to narrow down candidates in certain races.

The Fond du Lac area will find statewide races on their ballots, as well as more local races for their districts in U.S. House of Representatives, Wisconsin Senate and Wisconsin Assembly.

Additionally, the area’s own Eric Toney, currently Fond du Lac County District Attorney, is running against incumbent Josh Kaul for attorney general.

Two races will see the August primary: U.S. House of Representatives District 6 will decide its Democratic candidate, and Wisconsin Assembly District 37 will decide its Republican candidate.

Here are the candidates on Fond du Lac County ballots, according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

U.S. House of Representatives District 6

All of Fond du Lac County falls under the U.S. House of Representatives District 6, and Republican incumbent Rep. Glenn Grothman is running for reelection.

Two Democratic candidates are Amanda Bell and Brad Smith, with the August primary deciding which candidate will be on the November ballot.

Independent candidates are Elizabeth Anne Fitzgibbon and Mike Thurow, and a Wisconsin Green candidate is Matthew Arndt.

The district also covers northern Dodge County; all of Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Green Lake, Marquette, Waushara and Columbia counties; and a portion of Winnebago County.

Wisconsin Senate District 9

In the District 9 Senate race, incumbent Sen. Devin LeMahieu is not seeking reelection.

Republican candidate Amy Binsfield will run against Independent candidate Christian Ellis.

District 9 represents northeast Fond du Lac County, including the villages of Mt. Calvary and St. Cloud and the towns of Taycheedah, Marshfield and Calumet. It also covers parts of Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties.

Wisconsin Senate District 13

For Senate District 13, Republican incumbent Sen. John Jagler is running for reelection. He will be up against Democratic candidate Sasha Ripley.

District 13 represents western Fond du Lac County, including the cities of Waupun and Ripon; the villages of Rosendale, Brandon, Fairwater and Oakfield; and the towns of Lamartine, Eldorado, Rosendale, Ripon, Metomen, Springvale, Alto, Waupun, Oakfield and Byron.

Much of Dodge County is also represented, including the village of Lomira and the cities of Mayville, Beaver Dam, Horicon, Fox Lake and Juneau. The district also covers Green Lake and Marquette counties, as well as a portion of Adams, Columbia and Jefferson counties.

Wisconsin Assembly District 27

In the race for Assembly District 27, Republican incumbent Lindee Rae Brill is running unopposed.

District 27 represents northeast Fond du Lac County, including the towns of Taycheedah, Marshfield and Calumet.

It also covers portions of Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties.

Wisconsin Assembly District 37

The August primary will decide the Republican candidate for Assembly District 37 between incumbent Mark L. Born and Steve Rydzewski.

The Democratic candidate is LaToya Bates.

District 37 represents the towns of Waupun, Oakfield and Byron in southern Fond du Lac County, as well as communities in northern Dodge County.

Wisconsin Assembly District 39

For Assembly District 39, Republican incumbent Alex Dallman will run against Democratic candidate Michael Skivington.

District 39 represents western Fond du Lac County, including the city of Ripon; villages of Rosendale, Brandon and Fairwater; and the towns of Ripon, Rosendale, Eldorado, Metomen, Springvale, Lamartine and Alto.

It also covers Green Lake and Marquette counties, as well as a portion of Winnebago, Adams and Columbia counties.

Wisconsin Assembly District 59

In Assembly District 59, incumbent Robert Brooks is not seeking reelection.

Republican candidate Bradley Petersen will run against Democratic candidate Jack Holzman.

District 59 represents southeast Fond du Lac County, including the villages of Campbellsport and Eden, and the towns of Forest, Eden, Osceola, Ashford and Auburn.

It also covers the village and town of Theresa in Dodge County and a portion of Sheboygan, Washington and Ozaukee counties.

Wisconsin Assembly District 60

In Assembly District 60, incumbent Jerry O’Connor is also not seeking reelection.

Republican candidate Marty Ryan is running against Independent candidate Tiffany Brault.

District 60 represents the city of Fond du Lac, the village of North Fond du Lac, and the towns of Fond du Lac, Friendship and Empire.

When are the election deadlines?

The deadline to register to vote by mail or online for the primary is July 22, though voters can register at their polling place on Election Day Aug. 11. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Aug. 6.

Valid proof of residence documents needed for registration include their driver’s license, utility bill or bank statement.

The deadline to register by mail or online for the general election is Oct. 14.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 11 and Nov. 3.
