Two indicted on kidnapping, assault and robbery charges

CHILLICOTHE — A Ross County Grand Jury recently indicted two Chillicothe residents after they allegedly kidnapped, assaulted, and robbed two victims, according to Jenna Hornyak, an investigator for the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office.

Hornyak said this all transpired on March 6, when officers and detectives were dispatched to the area of 34 and 28 S. Sugar Street in reference to two subjects claiming to have been assaulted by co-defendants Payton L. Remy and Davon J. Larry.

“Both victims had extensive head injuries, and they were covered in blood,” Hornyak said. “The victim stated they were assaulted by both co-defendants.”

According to Hornyak, Larry had asked to borrow $400 from the victims and was told no. That was when Larry began to assault one of the victims and tie him up.

“The other victim was tackled by Mr. Larry, causing injuries to her head,” Hornyak said. “Miss Remy then pepper-sprayed her and began tying her up as well. Larry started smacking her in the nose, causing it to bleed.”

One of the victims stated that the other victim was taken to the stairs by Larry and had his head placed on the staircase, where his head was stomped on.

It was not until after the defendants left that the victims were able to break free and get help. Both victims had pretty significant injuries, Hornyak said.

Remy and Larry were indicted on aggravated robbery and kidnapping, both of which are first-degree felonies; these hold a penalty of 11 years and a $20,000 fine.

They were also indicted on felonious assault, which is a second-degree felony and holds a penalty of eight years and a $15,000 fine.

During the June 12 grand jury, 22 cases were presented, and all were returned as true bills.
