Section V stars shine on USA Lacrosse All-American list

USA Lacrosse has announced its girls All-Americans for the 2026 spring season, and this year’s list includes five players from Section V.

Five others were named Academic All-Americans. To receive this honor, a student-athlete must combine on-field excellence with performance in the classroom.

Honeoye Falls-Lima’s Tessa Peinkofer is this year’s recipient of the Jackie Pitts Award, given to the student-athlete who goes “above and beyond in service to their team, school and community.”

Section V is also afforded one Coach of the Year nod. This season, that honor belongs to Penn Yan coach Chris Hansen, who pushed the Mustangs to a 20-2 season, the Class D section title (their fourth straight) and an appearance in the state final.

Bailey Cooper, Penn Yan: Cooper led Penn Yan to its fourth straight section title and first appearance in the state final since 2006. In Penn Yan’s state semifinal win, Cooper became the first player in Section V history to reach 400 career goals. Cooper, who was also an All-American in 2025, will continue her lacrosse career at Clemson University.

Brooke Endres, Spencerport: Endres finished her senior season ranking third in goals (75) and sixth in draw controls (163) in Section V. A three-time first team all-county selection, Endres has committed to Binghamton University.

Kate DeWald, Rush-Henrietta: Monroe County-I’s Offensive Player of the Year finished the season with 46 goals, 40 assists and 148 draw controls. DeWald has verbally committed to University of Florida.

Peyton Rothfuss, Penfield: Rothfuss led the Patriots to their second consecutive New York state final appearance, leading her team in several categories including goals (66), points (99) and draw controls (124). This is Rothfuss’ second All-American nod. The 2025 All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year has committed to Syracuse University.

Shaye Angelo, Honeoye Falls-Lima: Angelo, also the Monroe County-III Offensive Player of the Year, finished second in Section V in goals (78) and points (127), and was among the leaders in draw controls. The senior midfielder is heading to Duke University next year.
