As Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals commences Monday night, the New York Knicks will look to earn their 14th consecutive playoff victory. Only the Golden State Warriors (2016-17) won more consecutive games in the postseason (15), nearly going a perfect 16-0.
Steph Curry (2016-17) vs. Jalen Brunson (2025-26)
Considering New York is nearing this all-time mark, how do the numbers of star point guards Stephen Curry and Jalen Brunson stack up against one another?
During the 2016-17 NBA playoffs, Curry often shared time as the team’s No. 1 option alongside Kevin Durant. However, in 17 playoff games the former two-time MVP was still dominant, averaging 28.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.7 assists and two steals per game while shooting 41.9% from 3-point range and over 90% from the free-throw line.
For the Knicks this postseason, Brunson’s numbers are somewhat near Curry’s, but his efficiency is a little subdued. Brunson is averaging 26.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 33.3% from 3-point range and 84.4% from the free-throw line.
While it’s difficult for any player to replicate the shooting numbers of Curry, Brunson’s postseason performance has still been incredible for the Knicks as he hopes to lead them to their third NBA title in franchise history.
