Detroit — A decade ago, the dining scene in Metro Detroit had a lot to crow about, but it wasn’t as robust as it is today.
Grey Ghost, which opened in 2016, is one of the places that helped put Detroit’s restaurant scene back on the national map. The Brush Park destination had a lot of buzz when it first opened and quickly became a go-to for date nights and special occasions due to its meat-centric, chef-driven menu and fantastic craft cocktails.
To celebrate the 10-year milestone at Grey Ghost, the team behind the restaurant group, Four Man Ladder Hospitality — chefs John Vermiglio and Josef Giacomino, beverage director Will Lee and director of operations Michael Gray — have a few fun things planned next month.
First, there’s a “Greatest Hits” menu that will run for 10 days, July 18-27. Diners who have patronized Grey Ghost throughout the past decade may remember some of the dishes on this menu. There’s fried bologna, Chicago-style oysters, smoked whitefish dip and jerk wings. On the bar side, Grey Ghost brings back the cocktails Grandma’s Garden, Pretty Magic and Effeneff.
The main event is a multi-course, family-style dinner on July 28. The menu is a collaboration with chefs Giacomino and Vermiglio, plus Grey Ghost chef Anthony Patton and men from the other Four Man Ladder Hospitality group restaurants: Rah-ed Ghuma of Second Best, Connor Maxwell-McCabe of Basan and Eric Lees of Little Ghost.
The dinner is $100 per person and is on sale now.
“Ten years later, we’re incredibly grateful to the guests, team members, and city of Detroit that have supported us along the way,” Vermiglio said in a statement. “This anniversary is a celebration of everyone who has been part of our story.”
Grey Ghost is at 47 E. Watson in Detroit. To book a reservation for Greatest Hits Week July 18-27 or the anniversary dinner on July 28, visit resy.com/cities/detroit-mi/venues/greyghost.
