Davante Adams has only been with the Los Angeles Rams for one year, but his pedigree has made him one of the best explosive players in the NFL over the past five seasons. The Rams saw that firsthand in 2025, but Pro Football Focus quantified just how explosive the veteran receiver has been since 2021 when it comes to receptions of 15 yards or more.
Adams ranked ninth on PFF’s list with 165 explosive plays in the past five seasons. Adams is also the oldest player on this list at 33 years old and the only one to have been on four times during that five-season span (the Green Packers, the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets and the Rams).
Despite suiting up for four teams over the last five seasons, there’s been almost no stopping Adams. The longtime great has snatched the third-most explosive receptions in the past half-decade, tied with Chase on the totem pole.
Adams enjoyed a wonderful first season with the Rams, featuring an 83.9 PFF receiving grade, 1.90 yards per route run and 15 touchdowns. Another area where he dominated was picking up chunk yards. While teammate Puka Nacua led the pack at 49 catches of 15-plus yards, Adams wasn’t far behind at 31. The 33-year-old hasn’t surrendered much to Father Time as he enters his 13th season.
This is why Sean McVay coveted Adams so highly in 2025. He brought a new element to the Rams’ offense, on top of his explosive playmaking ability, as someone who could just win in the end zone. Adams may be on the tail end of his career, but his body of work indicates he has the makings to break loose at a moment’s notice.
