Ithaca police responded to a reported stabbing behind the Walmart Supercenter on June 6, according to a news statement.
According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing at around 7 p.m. at 1 Southwest Park Road, the area known as “The Jungle,” a homeless encampment.
The officers found a victim suffering from stab wounds to the abdomen and began providing first aid before transporting the victim to a regional trauma center, according to police.
Police last listed the victim as being in stable condition over the weekend.
Authorities believe the victim and suspect knew each other and said it is unlikely a random act of violence. No further information on the suspect was provided by police.
