Just months after Texas A&M hired now third-year head coach Mike Elko, the Aggies offered the son of former Dallas Cowboys franchise player and All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant, who, namesake alone, has received a ton of national attention in the 2028 recruiting class, which is quickly becoming a point of attention this summer.
Dez Briant Jr., who stands 5’10” and 165 pounds, is still growing into his body and is considered a three-star prospect, ranked as On3’s 108th wide receiver prospect heading into this senior season at Southlake Carroll. Similar to his father, Bryant is an excellent separator with impressive agility off his break, and at Texas A&M’s rising junior camp this weekend, the NFL legacy showcased this skill in one-on-one drills.
Dez Bryant ended his Cowboys career with 537 receptions, 7,506 yards, and 75 receiving touchdowns, and while his speed and quickness decreased during his final two seasons, his ball skills, especially in the red zone, were never an issue. While Bryant Jr. is undersized as an X receiver, he is already built for the slot or Z spot.
After receiving an offer from his father’s alma mater, Oklahoma State, SMU, and Texas A&M are the current leaders in his recruitment, and after taking part in this weekend’s camp, the Aggies should be considered favorites, but it’s clear that Elko and his staff are solely focused on closing out the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle after hosting several priority prospects this weekend.
Dez Bryant Jr. will look to add on to his resume this coming season and set his official visit schedule next spring/summer, which should include Texas A&M.
