It’s almost that time to crown the 2026 All-Big Bend Softball Player of the Year.
The Tallahassee Democrat will soon select and reveal its 2026 All-Big Bend award winners, first and second teams, and honorable mentions.
The area has an abundance of talent and many contenders for the award.
Madison County has Valdosta State signee Alden Bass, who had a 1.20 earned run average and an 18-3 record on the mound en route to the FHSAA Rural state semifinals. She also contributed 25 hits and seven home runs.
Out at Wakulla is junior Cylie Long, the 2025 All-Big Bend Player of the Year. Long had 51 runs batted in, 42 hits, and 12 home runs.
Wakulla also has the all-time single-season home run record holder, Parker Stubbs. The junior and University of South Carolina Upstate commit slammed 15 home runs and had 45 hits with a .489 batting average.
Amanda Thompson, the 2024 All-Big Bend Player of the Year, has graduated from St. John Paul II and is taking her talents to Harvard, an Ivy League member. She was a pitching ace, with a 2.07 ERA and an 18-8 record, and also had 33 hits and 13 home runs.
North Florida Christian graduated senior and Georgia Southwestern commit Skylar Young had a 1.36 ERA and a 19-6 record on the mound. She also had 41 hits and six home runs.
All these players have compelling cases to get the All-Big Bend Player of the Year honor. But who should win it?
