After securing the first state tournament win in program history, the Horseheads boys lacrosse team fell to Victor, 18-4, in a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B regional final Saturday, June 6 at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School.

Section 5’s Victor (18-2) is New York’s top-ranked Class B team and advanced to a state semifinal against Section 2’s Niskayuna at 4 p.m. Friday, June 11 at SUNY Cortland. Niskayuna rallied past Fayetteville-Manlius, 14-13, in their regional final.
Horseheads trailed 8-0 after one quarter.
“The first quarter was a lot to overcome,” Horseheads head coach Jason Neubauer said. “Congratulations to Victor and good luck to them moving forward.
“I was proud of the way the boys didn’t give up facing the No. 1 team in the state. This group accomplished a lot this season and never quit until that final whistle. As a coach that is all you can really ask for.”
Jackson Mead led Victor with 6 goals and an assist. Eli Ricci scored 3 goals. Colin Wheeler (2 goals, 2 assists), Matthew Herendeen (1-3) and Gage Hay (1-3) had 4-point games.
