Texas A&M’s star junior named NCBWA Player of the Year

Just because the season is over for Texas A&M baseball doesn’t mean the accolades have slowed. Despite a tough regional that ended with a loss to USC, the Aggies produced several standout performers, and few were better than junior outfielder Caden Sorrell.

There aren’t many players in program history as complete as Sorrell. Even with a shortened 2025 season due to injury and the occasional streaky stretch, his career numbers stack up with some of the best to wear the Maroon & White. His 2026 campaign only strengthened that legacy. Sorrell slashed .341/.434/.743 with 71 hits, 17 doubles, 23 home runs, and 74 RBI, while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on his way to earning All‑SEC Defensive Team honors.

Also, after opening the year on the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, Sorrell’s performance kept him firmly in the national spotlight. He advanced to the Semifinals List. joining fellow Aggie Gavin Grahovac. To cap it off, he’s now been named as co-District VII Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association.
