Two targets that can boost Florida football's recruiting surge

Florida football is hoping to carry its momentum into the second official visit weekend of the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Jon Sumrall’s program landed multiple commitments following its first OV weekend and is aiming to top that result in the coming days. Among the haul were four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson and four-star linebacker Ja’Bios Smith.

The Gators’ focus is on a pair of prospects who could elevate the top-five-ranked class. According to 247Sports, Florida is hosting five current commits and six additional visitors as the staff looks to continue building connections. Prospects to monitor as the weekend kicks off are four-star wide receiver Eric McFarland III and three-star defensive lineman Elijah Guertin.

McFarland is a 5-foot-6-inch, 177-pound prospect out of Bradenton, Florida, where he attends IMG Academy. He’s currently slated as the No. 33 overall recruit in the cycle and the No. 6 wide receiver. A top-5 player coming out of Florida, McFarland III has 35 offers, including eight from SEC programs. Top contenders battling Florida for the five-star prospect are Tennessee, Texas A&M and Georgia.

Guertin is a 6-foot-5-inch, 255-pound DL from Warwick, Rhode Island. A product of Bishop Hendricken, the No. 1 ranked player in the state has 30 offers. Four other SEC programs are vying for Guertin’s services, including Kentucky, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt.
