Bears QB Caleb Williams had perfect response to 'Madden curse'

There’s been plenty of excitement following the announcement of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams serving as the cover athlete of “Madden NFL 27,” which marks the first time a Bears player has ever graced the cover.

Williams electrified the NFL last season, his first with head coach Ben Johnson, where he established himself as one of the most clutch quarterbacks in the league. Williams had an NFL record with seven fourth-quarter comebacks, including a wild-card playoff win over the Green Bay Packers. Williams also broke the Bears’ single-season passing yards record, and it’s clear the best is still yet to come.

While Bears fans have been celebrating something they never thought would be possible, there’s also been some concerns about a potential “Madden curse” that has followed some previous Madden cover athletes, where they’ve missed time or had a down year.

Williams is well aware of that curse, and when he was asked by a fan at a recent Madden 27 event about breaking the curse, he had the perfect response.

“Damn right,” Williams said.

For what it’s worth, Williams has already taken on the Bears quarterback curse, so the Madden Curse is a cake walk in comparison.
