Iowans will get an early shot at tickets to this year’s Field of Dreams Major League Baseball game on Aug. 13 between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies.
MLB announced Thursday, June 4, that public ticket opportunities are now open, exclusively for Iowa residents trying to attend the big-league game in Dyersville.
This year’s game marks MLB’s first trip to Iowa since 2022. Like before, residents throughout the state will get an early chance at grabbing tickets through a lottery.
The registration window closes for the MLB game ticket lottery on June 11. Lottery winners will be selected on June 17. Winners of the lottery will then be able to buy tickets on June 18.
This year’s game between the Twins and Phillies will be played near the iconic Dyersville diamond from the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner. MLB first came to Dyersville in 2021 for a game between the White Sox and the New York Yankees.
That 2021 game was a huge hit. Costner, who plays an Iowa farmer who plows over his corn to build a baseball field in the movie, led the two teams onto the field in a touching pregame show. The game ended with White Sox star Tim Anderson belting a walk-off home run into the ballpark’s cornfield.
It was such a huge success that MLB returned a year later with the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.
This year’s MLB game will feature an opening act of sorts, with the Iowa Cubs and St. Paul Saints playing a Triple-A game there on Aug. 11. Presale tickets for that game will take place on June 23. Tickets to the minor league game will go on sale to the public on June 30.
